About me and my therapy practice

I am an experienced adult psychotherapist who has worked with a wide range of people.  My approach is psychodynamic, which means that I believe we best address the root cause of any difficulties by together uncovering, engaging with and healing the pain that you are in so that you can lead a happy and richer life.  I offer longer term open-ended work, where we enter into an open-ended contract without an agreed end date, and short-term more focussed work where we work for 12 weeks having agreed a goal at the outset.  I will provide you with a safe and confidential setting in which you will be free to talk safely about difficult emotional issues without fear of rejection, judgement, criticism, or blame.   I believe that the 'fit' between psychotherapist and client is critical to the success of the work.  If I believe that I would not be the best person to help you I shall work with you to find someone that will be.

Practice description

I am back working in person and also continuing to work online and via the telephone following the coronavirus pandemic.  In person I practice in the City of London, near Bank and Mansion House tube stations on Queen Victoria Street, and in Tooting Bec in South London.   My City practice has an entry phone system and my room is in a quiet location on the first floor, accessible via stairs or a lift.  My Tooting practice is 15 minutes walk from Tooting Bec tube station.  There is free parking outside.

My first session

I normally suggest meeting for up to two initial sessions in order to find out what is troubling you. These initial sessions will last 50 minutes, as will any future regular sessions, and I will be interested in finding out why you are seeking help, why now, and what your relationships (with family, friends and work colleagues) are like. Having a second session allows you to return having processed and reflected upon your thoughts and feelings arising from the first session and gives us an opportunity to think about your experience together. Towards the end of the second session we can agree a way forward. An initial assessment costs £75.
