About me and my therapy practice
I am a MBACP registered psychotherapist/counsellor with 15 years of experience, who works with a person centred and integrative approach. Taking those first steps into counselling can be a daunting time, so I make every effort to ensure I provide a safe and comfortable environment free of any distractions. I allow my clients to work at their own pace, which allows me to explore the clients’ issues safe in the knowledge that whatever they say is totally confidential and they can be reassured they will not be judged in anyway. Everybody will struggle and may need some help at some stage in their life, I ensure I am able to walk alongside my clients as we try to navigate a solution to their problems and issues, enabling them to move forward with their lives.
My experience is extensive, with a proven background in Health and Social Care as a midwife, mental health worker, bereavement counsellor, manager of a Rape Crisis Centre, online children’s counsellor, school counsellor, couples’ counsellor, specialist student mentor and EAP provider. As an Integrative counsellor, I combine a variety of models, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic, Solution focused therapy, humanistic and creative artwork. The counselling will be a mix of some, or all of these forms of therapy, depending on the issues presented.
I have worked with a variety of issues, ranging from bereavement, baby loss, addiction, anxiety, stress, depression, PTSD, OCD, relationship problems, domestic violence, sexual abuse, trauma, identity issues, self-esteem, personality disorders, eating disorders, neurodivergent clients and work related difficulties. This list is by no means exhaustive.
Practice description
My approach has the individual person at the centre, which enables me to work collaboratively with the client in a holistic and insightful way to enable them to consider change. I provide comprehensive assessments of clients on which to base appropriate counselling interventions, or to make recommendations for referral to other professionals. I will be led by what the client brings to the sessions with support and guidance. Our therapeutic relationship and connection will be key in helping provide the right environment, to make the changes needed to for a healthier life.Session fees are:
