About me and my therapy practice
Welcome to my listing, which outlines a little about the way I work, my training, accreditation, professional experience, and some practicalities.
I am a UKCP registered psychoanalytic psychotherapist and a BACP registered and accredited psychodynamic counsellor for children and adolescents. I offer individual psychoanalytic psychotherapy to adults, and psychodynamic counselling to adolescents and children.
A psychoanalytic/ psychodynamic approach takes the unconscious into account, and offers a therapeutic setting in which you can put words to difficult thoughts and feelings through the exploration not just of current difficulties, but of patterns of behaviour, relationships, family history, memories, dreams and significant events, which might lead to a greater self-understanding and acceptance.
While some treatments emphasise symptom removal as the focus of treatment, the analytic approach aims to give you time to think more deeply about the causes of your distress, and to build your own unique solutions.
I offer therapy sessions throughout the week in inner london. In Dalston N1 ( a few minutes from Dalston Junction Overground and within easy reach of Hackney, Shoreditch, Highbury and Stoke Newington), in Bloomsbury London WC1 (within easy reach of Holborn, Farringdon, and Tottenham Court Road), and in Islington EC1V 1LJ (near Angel, Clerkenwell and Old Street)
Since I began as a counsellor 18 years ago, I have undertaken two in depth professional trainings, and gained experience working in the third sector as a therapist, and supervisor, as well as within a specialist NHS Psychodynamic Psychotherapy service. I believe that working with young people, enriches my work with adults and vice versa, and alongside an established private practice I was a lead therapist and service manager in a state education setting for many years setting seeing children and young people with complex social and emotional needs. I continue to supervise in this setting.
