About me and my therapy practice
I am a BACP Accredited therapist also UKCP trained at the Northern Guild of Psychotherapy as a Psychotherapeutic Counseller of Children and Adolescents. I have worked in NHS IAPT, Third Sector agencies such as Cruse Bereavement, BARCA and Primary and Secondary schools as a parent and child therapist. Please note, I do not see children of primary school age. I am Bupa and Axa registered.
It is important to me that you feel accepted and safe with me at what is most likely a vulnerable time and I work at your pace to build a trusting, confidential relationship. I also encourage self-care in the people I see.
You may be at a crossroads in your life, have experienced a life event such as bereavement, redundancy, retirement, family breakdown or be in need of a space to share what you are going through. Maybe you have felt unhappy all of your life and don't know why? These things can be explored safely in therapy to help you understand yourself and to get what you want from life.
I am a Relational Practitioner and look at how past relationships may be impacting on your present relationships to help you gain greater clarity about current situations. I use elements of more cognitive models to challenge patterns of negative thinking.
I am an IFS informed practitioner level 1 trained. Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a kind, respectful, deeply healing model which recognises that we all have many different aspects of our personality (or parts) and we all have a self. IFS compassionately explores how these parts work together or (in internal conflicts) against each other. This can help to bring internal balance and understanding. This model is trauma informed. I am trained in the Rewind Technique. I also use sand tray work, another way to make sense of personal situations or feelings. I work collaboratively with you to tailor the work to your needs.
I am currently offering in person sessions or remote sessions on doxy.me, a secure video conferencing platform.
