About me and my therapy practice
Whilst I can support a range of individuals, my particular specialism is working with emergency services/ first responders. I understand the organisational and operational challenges of these roles and therefore I strive to offer flexible appointments to suit your availability.
I have a thorough understanding of the needs of this community gained through numerous years of providing therapy and several personal/family links.
For those in service related roles, seeking help is the hardest part.
Finding a space that understands, without explaining every acronym and quirk is the next.
It can feel unusual or worrying when you don't feel 100%, however sometimes the work we do can have a profound effect on us. This is understandable and my aim is to help get you back on track as quickly as possible.
To that I can offer intensive trauma therapies which is a proven and effective way to accelerate recovery from PTSD/CPTSD. In my experience this is particularly suited to first responders who are used to 'getting the job done' in a structured, safe way.
As an accredited integrative practitioner I look to support individuals in several ways, using predominantly Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT). I am an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and in the final stages of a PhD about Mental Health in Policing.
My clinical experience spans the NHS, private practice and the two main national Police Charities. I also hold PFOA approval.
Practice description
I work online which offers maximum flexibility and face to face on request from Harrogate and London clinics.
I work with individuals and organisations. I can offer early intervention and post incident support.
Intensive Trauma therapy involves delivering sessions in quicker succession and in more detail. This can expedite progress and is very useful for those who have experienced multiple difficult events.
If this is not suitable, I can naturally offer traditional weekly sessions.
My first session
I offer a free 15 minute consultation as a meet & greet.
I understand that you may have a lot of questions and need to feel at ease with the process.
If I am the right person to help you, our first session will seek to get a better picture of how we can work together to get results quickly.
