About me and my therapy practice
Hello
You have taken a first step in reaching out for support. Allow me to support you in taking the next step.
I have 15 years’ experience as a specialist psychotherapeutic counsellor in grief and bereavement, living with loss and changes in health and lifestyle.
In my qualifications and training I offer a humanistic person-centred approach although I also draw on a number of other theoretical models, depending on individual client need.
Sometimes people are not sure why they are looking for support, but know that they are struggling. I offer a safe confidential space where you can bring your struggles to my door.
Practice description
I will gently walk alongside you on your journey as we explore what brings you to therapy.
We will work together at your own pace, offering you time to explore your thoughts. emotions and experiences.
I believe that everyone has the capacity for healing, growth and change and sometimes this suddenly eludes us.
My role is to help you as you journey forward on the path of your choosing, and to encourage you to find meaning in life once more. I am empathic, non-judgemental and will offer you unconditional positive regard as you trust me with your unique story
My first session
Initially I offer a free 15 minute telephone conversation. This is an opportunity for you to see if I can help, and if we can work together. There is also time for you to ask any initial questions you might have.
At the first session I ask a series of questions and listen to your story. I allow up to 90 minutes for this first session. Sometimes people don’t necessarily have the words to say why they have come to therapy and may also initially be nervous, all of this is ok. What I like to ensure is that no-one feels rushed, we will take our time.
At the end of the first session I will provide you with a contract. privacy policy and a consent form and there is time for any other questions that you might have.
