About me and my therapy practice

I have been a therapist for over fifteen years.

I started my practice in 2009 and I have now worked with many hundreds of people who have wanted to change or process something about themselves or their life stories.

Issues that I have worked with include: anxiety and depression, bereavement and loss, relationship difficulties, work-related stress, serious illness, addictions and compulsive behaviours, psychedelic integration, identity, spiritual awakening, and neurodivergence.

I was also a volunteer counsellor at the Fountain Centre at Royal Surrey County Hospital for five years where I worked with cancer patients and their families as well as members of hospital staff.

I have a BA (Hons) Degree in Counselling and I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I also have a Master's Degree in Transpersonal Psychology.

A fifty-minute session costs £60, either in person in Hove, or online via Zoom.

Practice description

If you feel that there is something in your life that is preventing you from being who you really want to be then you may benefit from some counselling or psychotherapy.

Therapy helps you to gain a greater awareness of those aspects of yourself that you are currently less aware of, or even unaware of, and in doing so enables you to make clearer choices for yourself and for your life.

My role as your therapist has three main functions:

  • I will try my best to understand what it is like for you to be you. Of course I can never truly understand, but through my very act of trying you will be supported to express and explore your own experience of being you and in doing so you will gain a greater understanding of yourself.
  • I will sometimes offer you interpretations based upon my training and experience and I will sometimes offer you feedback based upon my observations. The aim of my suggestions will always be to help you to look at things in different ways.
  • I will notice when you might be making unexamined assumptions about your situation and I may challenge those assumptions, not because they are “wrong” but because you might benefit from the process of re-evaluating them.

I practise an integrative model of counselling and psychotherapy which is informed by humanistic and person-centred approaches, psychoanalytic and psychodynamic theories, and transpersonal psychology. Due to its flexibility the integrative approach is highly adaptable and well suited to most people.
