About me and my therapy practice
WHAT HELP DO YOU NEED? Are you dealing with issues such as relationship difficulties, attachment issues, occupational stress and performance, personal injury claims, phobias, trauma, alcohol abuse, and low confidence?
I have a special interest in post traumatic stress, also life/occupational coaching and mediation, where issues can impact on the organisation and individual.
Whatever your difficulty, I can offer you a range of therapies, including CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) and EMDR (eye movement desensitisation reprocessing), or Solution Focused Coaching and mediation
Practicalities: sessions usually last up to an hour and together we regularly review how you feel you are progressing. Some people like to work for a few weeks only, whilst others require longer term counselling - you might decide what you need from the outset or it emerges as you continue the therapy.
Transport links: Easy access by public transport, parking nearby. If you feel that I might be able to help you, do call and we can discuss your needs further.
Practice description
What to Expect: Hello and welcome to a brief description about how we might start to work together.
You might request a brief call first to discuss what you are looking for in having therapy and there is no charge for this.
You might have had therapy before and have an idea what you want to achieve. For example, with regards to traumatic experiences you might already have received counselling and now feel ready to focus on the specifics of the trauma. EMDR lends itself well to this.
The first session is used to help us both decide if we could continue working together, but also I aim to offer you at least one coping strategy that you can use after that therapy meeting.
It is important to remember that therapy is a process and takes work! The process could include greater understanding of yourself and others, as well as putting upsetting experiences back into the past where they really belong in order to create a more fulfilling life. Our aims can also include dealing with present issues as well as creating foundations for a better future.
It's often by making small and manageable changes that can lead to great results - and you don't have to have a 'personality transplant' to achieve that!
My first session
I do not charge for an initial brief telephone call for general information. The first session is charged the same as for subsequent sessions. The aim of the first session is not only for us to explore how therapy might be helpful, but also for you to take away a few practical coping strategies.
At the end of the session you might decide to either continue therapy or to go away and think further before committing yourself. There is NO pressure for this! What is most important is that you feel therapy is right for you.
