About me and my therapy practice
I am a fully qualified counsellor, with an empathic and non-judgemental approach. I offer a confidential service and a safe and calm space for you to work through those experiences and feelings, which are preventing you from leading a happy and fulfilling life.
Each person is unique and, as such, I vary my style to meet the needs of each client. My counselling approach is therefore informed by a wide variety of counselling techniques, and I describe myself as an “integrative counsellor”.
A good client-counsellor relationship is essential to the process. I aim to work in a collaborative way, where all decisions are made together.
I facilitate a process whereby you recognise and draw on your inner strength and resources in order to make any changes which might be necessary. I do this by actively listening to what is (or isn’t) being expressed and by using techniques which will enable you to explore your feelings at a deeper level. I may also offer you sensitive and supportive challenges to help you to gain a new perspective on your concerns.
I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have also completed specialist training with the Foundation for Infant Loss, which equips me to work with issues around abortion, pregnancy and infant loss. In addition, I have a Diploma in Children and Young People's Mental Health which enables me to work with young adults. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
