About me and my therapy practice
Pippa Reynolds B.A.hons Eng., B.A.hons Psychology, Post -graduate diploma and M.Sc. Psychological Counselling.
I am an accredited member of the BACP. My core training was counselling psychology. I am also an EMDR therapist. I work with individuals and couples. I have 30 years experience and in that time have worked as a counsellor in further and higher education, for social services and in private practice.
I would describe my approach to counselling as integrative, meaning that I pay attention to the client's emotions, thinking, body and spirit. Counselling provides a safe, reflective space in an increasingly complex world and enables us to untangle the many influences in your life, past and present, that bring you to seek help at this point.
I offer brief counselling and longer term therapy.
Practice description
After an initial session I usually suggest that we make a contract for 6 sessions and at that point we review the work that we have done together and make a decision to either end or continue.
We meet at a fixed time usually on a weekly basis. If at any point the client chooses to end counselling I strongly urge them to allow time to reflect on the work done and to say goodbye. This is because 'endings' often elicit strong feelings and memories and these take time to understand.
My first session
The first session lasts for an hour and I will ask quite a lot of questions about your general health, life style, family and relationships and what brings you to counselling. But ultimately this session is to do with us meeting each other and to make a decision about working together.

I am based at the Body Mind Clinic in Cardiff. I work there on Monday afternoons, Tuesdays and Wednesdays all day and can offer appointment times between 8 am and 8.30 pm. I can offer on line sessions on Thursdays but would prefer to have at least one in person session before moving to on line.
About me and my therapy practice
I have completed Supervision training with the Centre for Supervision Training and Development (CSTD Bath) and have obtained a Diploma Award.
CSTD Bath is endorsed by The United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) as a recognised Supervisor training and meets all UKCP's requirements for supervision training.
The training is based on the 7 eyed model of reflective supervision and lends itself in scope to different therapeutic models and work contexts.
Practice description
The aim of supervision is to create a space where we can reflect on the supervisee's client work. I aim to build a trusting, working alliance with my supervisee where they feel able to use their imagination, instincts, humour and creativity. I hope that the supervisee will feel free to explore their work and gain the confidence to celebrate it but also to challenge me and accept challenge from me. On occasion, we as therapists may need to offer up vulnerability and concerns as they arise in pursuit of safe, ethical and transformative therapy for the client. Supervision should provide a safe and containing space for that to happen and that is my aim. Feedback from my supervisees indicates that our sessions are enjoyable, that the learning is facilitative and that they feel contained and supported in their client work.
My first session
The first session affords us the opportunity to sense whether or not we could work together and I would prefer that this initial meeting was in person even if the plan is to work on line. We will discuss therapeutic approaches and professional expectations of one another. If we decide to continue we would contract our work and build in reviews and feedback sessions.
The fee for the first session, like following sessions is £50.
