About me and my therapy practice
I have been qualified as a Transpersonal Psychotherapist since 2010.
Prior to that I worked for 30 years as a qualified Occupational Therapist working with clients who had physical illness and disability some of whom also had psychological trauma and mental illness. I specialised in bariatric care and housing issues.
I trained as a Breathwork Coach in 2021 to help clients work with both physical and mental health.
I trained as an Integral Sound Healer in 2022 to expand my understanding of the effects of sound and how we can use it in psychotherapy.
I now work part-time as a psychotherapist from a dedicated room in my home.
I work adults 1:1.
I have experience of running workshops for the general public and professionals on:-
Sound Meditation
Depression & Anxiety
Breathwork for good mental and physical health
Practice description
I work with you to reduce emotional and physical pain in a supportive and safe environment.
Sessions last an hour during which you will be encouraged to discuss any issues which you are struggling with.
I have a special interest in how we hold our emotions internally, on a physical level, often presenting as medically unexplained symptoms (MUS)
I see clients with a range of problems - anxiety, depression, trauma related past, difficulty with relationships, bereavement etc.
Therapy may include talking through issues, artwork, mindfulness, guided meditation or other therapeutic techniques to help shift negative energy and restore balance.
Some clients will be willing to do deeper work using dreamwork, sandtray or breath & sound work to restore balance of mind, body and soul.
Breathwork helps us recognise unhealthy breathing patterns which may be exacerbating anxiety or depression. It can help you work through traumas and regain balance in your life. Once you learn breathwork skills you need to practice regularly to gain full benefit.
Sound Healing can be effective in shifting negative energy in body and aura. It can helps us reduce anxiety by stimulating the vagal nerve, calming the nervous system and rebalancing the body on a cellular level.
Therapy always encourages clients to find their inner strength, to become more self-confident and resilient, and to feel more empowered.
My first session
During our first session I will discuss with you what you expect from therapy. This session will last an hour - time usually goes very quickly!
Its totally up to you what you want to bring to the first session. You may want to just sound out what is on your mind or you may have something more specific to discuss.
It is useful to know a bit about you and your past to give me insight about your current issues. However you may feel you have one issue that needs immediate attention i.e. if you are suffering from panic attacks.
I ask all my clients to fill in a basic personal information form and, if therapy is continuing, to sign Business Agreement and GDPR forms. These can be sent to you by email beforehand if necessary.
At the end of the session we will decide whether to continue and discuss further appointments.
