About me and my therapy practice
Normally based in Eastbourne, I'm currently offering online therapy which I and my clients are finding as effective as - and in some cases more comfortable than - face to face counselling and EMDR.
WHAT I OFFER
I'm an experienced counsellor and EMDR therapist. We all experience emotional difficulties or distress during our lives: stress, anxiety, depression, loss, feeling worthless, empty, uncertain or overwhelmed, particularly in these uncertain times. Sometimes these difficulties can be hard to deal with alone or with the help of friends or family.
COUNSELLING AND EMDR
Counselling with me is not about giving advice or me listening to you in silence. It is about working actively together to enable you to explore your thoughts and feelings and gain valuable new perspectives about yourself and your situation. It is about helping you to resolve your difficulties yourself, find new ways of coping or give you a greater sense of control and choice in your life.
Everyone is different and your needs will be unique so I draw on a range of approaches particularly EMDR. In the first consultation we will explore what brings you to therapy and decide if it feels right for you - the 'feel right' factor is important. I am a registered provider with major insurance companies including Axa, Aviva and WPA. Please ask for further details.
I'm an experienced EMDR therapist. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is one of the NICE recommended treatments for PTSD and trauma. Research also shows it is effective for issues such as anxiety, depression, phobias, low self-esteem and complex grief which often have adult or childhood trauma at their root. Please see my website: www.joannaheadcounselling.com for further details about EMDR.My first session
I'd be happy to arrange an initial 20-30 phone call to talk about what's bringing you to therapy and get a sense if the 'fit' feels right and how we might work together.

About me and my therapy practice
I am currently only offering online EMDR therapy and counselling for London clients. Working online is highly effective - and in some cases more comfortable than face to face work. It offers greater flexibility, you can access from home or a comfortable environment and you don't have to travel to and from an appointment.
