About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced and accredited counsellor and offer a friendly, supportive and confidential counselling service. My aim is to provide a warm and non-judgemental atmosphere. I realise that taking the initial step to access counselling can sometimes be daunting, so please feel free to contact me for more information about what counselling could offer you.
During our first session we would get to know each other and see if we think we can work together. It will also be an opportunity for me to gain an understanding of what you hope to achieve from counselling and to explain in more depth how counselling might help you. For this first session I offer a reduced fee.
If you choose to continue, counselling can offer you a safe space to explore your emotions, experiences, problems or decisions you have to make. You will have the chance to have your story heard, to express your feelings and to consider options. We can work together, at a pace that suits you, to help you find a way forward to a more satisfying and resourceful life.
Alongside my private practice, Clent Hills Counselling, I have experience of working in different therapeutic settings including a young persons counselling service, an NHS GP surgery and with adults referrals from a Children's Centre. I have a current Enhanced DBS Certificate for Adults, Young people and Children. I am a Registered and Accredited member of BACP and also offer clinical supervision.
At the moment most of my work is online because of Covid. When face to face counselling is an option again, it might be helpful to know that I am based in Belbroughton, which is in close proximity to Stourbridge, Halesowen and Bromsgrove. There is parking on site and the counselling room is on the ground floor. Belbroughton is on the Bromsgrove to Stourbridge bus route and there are also buses to and from Kidderminster.
Please do get in touch if you would like more information.

About me and my therapy practice
My aim for supervision is to create a collaborative environment where you feel safe to share your client work, your own thought processes and feelings. During our sessions you will be encouraged to use self reflection to help you identify ways you could develop your therapeutic practice and to examine your own levels of self care. This, in turn, can help you offer your best service to your clients.
As counsellors the on going development of our ethical and professional practice is essential. Together we will be able to explore uncomfortable moments, uncertainties and doubts and reflect on their meaning and also celebrate when progress is made and success is evident. Many therapists will experience ethical issues or dilemmas and supervision can provide you with space to discuss them and identify a way forward that ensures professional and ethical standards are preserved, whilst also supporting you in the process.
As part of your professional development you may wish to gain BACP Accreditation, be considering establishing or wish to grow a private practice counselling business and these are things I can also support you with.
Practice description
I am a registered and accredited member of BACP and now solely work in private practice, Clent Hills Counselling which I established in 2013. I use an integrative approach in my counselling based on a Person Centred foundation.
My previous counselling experience includes working at a specialist young peoples service, at a GP’s and with adult clients referred by a children’s centre.
My supervision work is also informed by over 30 years of working in educational settings and my creative background.
I hold a Post Graduate Certificate, (level 7), in Clinical Supervision achieved with the University of Derby which is also approved by the National Counselling Society (NCS).
My first session
Our first meeting will provide an opportunity for you to begin to get to know me and to see if you feel we could build a working alliance. We can discuss your expectations and goals for supervision and you can tell me about the nature of your work and your therapeutic approach. I will also explain the supervision model I use and describe the supervision boundaries for creating a safe way of working together.
If you decide you would like to begin to work with me we will then schedule our sessions. During the first one we will aim to agree a contract which formally defines and describes the supervision, our expectations, the methods of working, the boundaries, organisational and professional contexts and the roles each party takes.
