About me and my therapy practice
Welcome. I'm an accredited UKCP psychotherapist, and MBACP registered counsellor. I offer counselling, psychotherapy and clinical supervision to Glasgow area-based clients face to face. I'm also working on Skype, or Zoom with those across Scotland and the wider UK.
I've spent over 19 years in practice as a therapist. Although from Glasgow, much of my training and experience has been in South West and South East England, including Exeter, Bath and London. I recently satisfied a long-held ambition to return my life and practice back to the Glasgow area.
My experience and qualifications allow me to offer both counselling and psychotherapy; they can have a different focus and come with different trainings (there's more on my website about this). We'd discuss which approach would be most helpful to you.
Past work experience has included being a senior therapist within the NHS, therapeutic teaching posts in education, and specialist counselling agencies. Most recently, I left my work managing a team of psychological therapists at a large University in Glasgow rejoining the NHS to build on my therapeutic responsibilities there. Alongside this, I've had a successful private practice over 19 years offering therapy to clients, and supervision to other counsellors, psychotherapists and those in the wider caring professions.
Practice description
Should we agree to work together, we'll meet on a regular basis, usually weekly. Either for an agreed period of time, or until it feels right for you to stop. The number of sessions anyone needs is unique to each person, and can depend on many factors such as your aims in coming into therapy, or how much support you feel you might need. It's something we discuss and agree together. I provide both brief and longer-term therapy, and work at a pace that feels appropriate to your needs both therapeutically, and financially. Fees are itemised at Cost and Contact on my website.
We would have regular review sessions to discuss how the therapy is going, and what value it is having. This will help us keep the usefulness of our therapeutic relationship under review so that your decision to end, or to continue for longer will have the best chance of matching what you need from the process.
My first session
Counselling and psychotherapy start with an initial session. It's not a commitment to start therapy. It's simply a chance for us to meet to see if it feels we can work productively together. A chance for you to explore with me what has brought you to therapy, or ask any questions you might have about me, or the service I offer.
This first session lasts up to 40 minutes, at a reduced fee of £30.00.
