About me and my therapy practice
I have been supervising since 2003. I love supervision and believe it should be a collaborative space where we can be open and honest and work together side by side. The aim is to ensure that the way you are working is safe and effective but also to ensure that you are not becoming too overloaded or stressed through your work. Compassion fatigue is rampant in the helping professions and supervision is one of the ways we can help ourselves to help others.
As supervisor I aim to provide a safe and supportive space for the supervisee so that a trusting relationship develops in which they can explore their work. Supervision provides the opportunity for growth as a practitioner through challenges to assumptions and professional practices and through personal development work. It aims to maintain and develop good safe practice when working with people and to encourage the supervisee to develop their reflexive skills as a professional, competent and compassionate practitioner.
I like to share my experience, skills and understanding of working with people as well as support the supervisee to develop their own style and inner supervisor and to gain confidence in their practice
I have experience of supervising a wide range of professionals, counsellors, trainee counsellors, supervisors, social workers, volunteers, managers and coordinators working with children, young people and adults. As well as one to one supervision I have facilitated many supervision groups for organisations using a co-participative model. To see the counselling and work experience background that underpins my work as a supervisor please see my counselling profile on the counselling directory.
I offer a free telephone 30 minute initial assessment so that we can discuss supervision and decide if we want to work together.
