About me and my therapy practice
Hello and a warm welcome to this page
My name is Lorna and I am a fully qualified cognitive behavioural therapist and groupwork facilitator.
If life seems hard just now, I would like to offer you a safe, accepting space, where we can work together to explore what is troubling you. CBT is an evidence-based therapy which can help you to overcome negative thinking patterns and reduce symptoms of anxiety or low mood, while increasing your sense of self-worth.
I have worked within the social care sector for over twenty-five years, supporting people both in times of crisis and when they are struggling to make sense of their lives. It would be a privilege to work alongside you in your journey of self-discovery and improved emotional wellbeing.
As a parent of two grown up neurodiverse daughters (one with AS and the other ADHD) I am aware of some of the challenges faced by both individuals and families.
Practice description
Cognitive behavioural therapy can help manage a wide range of conditions, including
General Anxiety; Health Anxiety; Social Anxiety; Phobias; Panic Disorders; OCD
Low Mood; Depression' Low self esteem
Together, we will gain an understanding of how your thoughts are affecting your emotions and leading to your distress, We will develop coping tools and strategies to help you reduce symptoms and increase your wellbeing
Each face to face session will last fifty minutes.
My first session
I know from personal experience that the relationship between counsellor and client is fundamental to successful therapy. I therefore am happy for you to contact me by telephone for a free fifteen minute chat. This is to help you decide if you feel comfortable to work with me
