About me and my therapy practice

Hello and welcome, my name is Kath, and I am a qualified, trauma informed, person-centred Counsellor.

I have been working with mental health charities, MIND, Place2Be, Eye2Eye and Gofal for over twenty years, supporting people with their mental health.  Prior to qualifying as a Counsellor, I have supported people to build their resilience through the introduction to coping strategies and techniques that support to manage day to day difficulties.  My experience in this role and as a Counsellor has been working with a range of issues such as stress, anxiety disorders, low mood, loss and bereavement, family and relationship issues, lack of confidence and self-esteem issues, and I have the experience of working alongside adults, young people and children.

I have been fortunate to work with hundreds of people, supporting them to understand and accept, offering parenting and family support to enable every child to overcome adverse experiences.

At times we all face challenges and counselling can help if you are feeling overwhelmed or stuck, and it can help to talk to someone without any emotional attachment.  Day to day life can bring with it challenges, which may leave you feeling stressed, low or anxious and this can impact on relationships, school, work and life in general.

My own personal experience, training as a Counsellor and working in different settings, has helped and continues to support me to guide and support individuals to explore the difficulties that prevent them from moving forward in any aspect of their lives.

Counselling offers a confidential safe space and time to explore whatever issues that you would like to bring, and can open the chance to change, enabling you to live life as you wish to. If you are finding it difficult to cope, counselling can help release some of those stuck feelings and support you to find your voice.

‘I feel like a brick has been lifted from my stomach, so much lighter.’

Practice description

A person-centred Counsellor will support you to explore your feelings and behaviour and enable you to become more self-aware to ultimately be what you want to be. This approach was founded in the 1940s by the American psychologist Carl Rogers who believed that ‘given the right conditions, a person can reach their full potential and become their true self.’ British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)

I can offer you the space and time to work through issues in a safe and confidential environment, whether face to face, video call or over the phone. The sessions are led by you, and I can listen to you without judgement, introduce you to coping strategies and finding ways for you to reach your goals.
