About me and my therapy practice

I work with clients once or twice weekly at my practice in Bloomsbury Square, London WC1. I also offer a limited amount of online sessions.

Starting psychotherapy can bring up many emotions. Clients coming to therapy for the first time can find it intimidating, illuminating, calming, exciting, challenging, or soothing. Perhaps some, all, or none of these emotions may be what you feel, but that is the important thing about psychotherapy. Each person is entirely their own person; a unique individual who has their own particular story to tell and their own way of expressing themselves.

Psychotherapy is a place to explore yourself with a trained professional who will not presume to know you before you know yourself.

Attuned listening in a calm environment helps my clients to understand their difficulties with increasing confidence, allowing people to find alternative views of themselves and others. In time clients learn to develop a more compassionate attention to their current life as well as to the stories of their past; viewing them with a new openness and curiosity, and questioning the sense of persecution many feel.

Practice description

I use psychodynamic techniques to look at your past and present, and how echos of the past continue, often distorting the present. It is deep and serious work that can be quite challenging at times and is designed to help each person towards change.

My first session

Before we start psychotherapy I offer two consultations which will give us both time to get to know each other and see whether therapy together will be beneficial.

I will send you a form to fill in and we will discuss what you put down in the first session. In that session I will get a sense of your difficulties, your family history and your support network. The second consultation is usually less structured and will give you more of an experience of what psychotherapy would be like.
