About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Marie, and I’m a qualified, postgraduate, integrative counsellor and psychotherapist (Counselling and Psychotherapy PGDip (Equiv.), MBACP, MACC (reg)). I live and work in beautiful South Oxfordshire.
I can give you the freedom to tell your story and the support and empowerment needed to be curious, explore, create change, and find a new way forward.
You may be grappling with a specific problem that you hope to resolve, or you may just feel a sense of dissatisfaction, anxiety, or unhappiness, and want to discover why, and how this can change.
Want the freedom to tell your story, in a caring and non-judgmental space?
You are unique, and so how we work together will also be unique, but I can help you explore any issues, working together to deepen your self-awareness, emotional processing and resilience.
You may be looking for counselling because you may have a specific problem that you hope to resolve, or you may just feel a sense of dissatisfaction, anxiety, or unhappiness, and want to discover why, and how this can change.
Though you may struggle to believe this at first, I believe you are the expert on yourself and I will support you in finding different perspectives to effectively face current challenges and past issues.
Working with you, I can offer
- Genuine understanding and attentive listening without the fear of being judged
- Support to tune into yourself so you can understand what you truly need
- Help to recognise, and healthily embrace, your emotions
- Deeper understanding of how you are in relationship with others
- Ways to enhance your self-compassion and your ability to cope with uncertainty.
To help you understand your feelings and improve your overall mental health and wellbeing.
Practice description
I find the flexibility and creativity of an integrative approach helps me personalise therapy for each of my clients.
Before training as a counsellor, I worked for over 25 years in the publishing sector. I also have lived experience of the impact of redundancy, as well as a family member with anxiety, panic disorder and depression, which have all helped shape my professional counselling journey.
My training, qualifications and experience
- Postgraduate Clinical Counselling Training (level 7) - Middlesex University/Waverley Abbey College
- Member of, and adhering to the ethical frameworks of, the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the Association of Christian Counsellors (ACC).
- I also work for an Oxford-based low-cost counselling agency.
My first session
What happens next?
Please contact me for an initial, free, no-obligation, 15-minute online or phone conversation to give you the chance to ask questions and explain why you are looking for therapy, and for me to explain how I work, which will help us decide if we can work well together.
You can either call me on 07418 602505 or email at mariehoopercounselling@gmail.com
Our first session together will be slightly different in that we will complete a more detailed assessment and also review the counselling contract which will provide foundations for the rest of our time together. Working together we establish goals for your therapy and we regularly review effectiveness to ensure the counselling is meeting your needs. Most of my clients see a gradual improvement within the first few weeks.
