About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I'm Luke. I am a qualified and experienced psychodynamic counsellor, registered and accredited as a member of the British Psychoanalytic Council. I also teach the MSc for Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy at Birkbeck University.
I work in London, both in person in London Bridge and online via Zoom, with a wide range of people who are experiencing difficulties and uncertainty in their personal, professional, and social lives and relationships.
Practice description
There are many reasons why someone might be thinking about coming to counselling. Sometimes it’s a specific issue that they want help in understanding, like difficulties in their relationships, or in working through a bereavement. There could be a more general sense of depression, unease, or anxiety, where the source is not obvious but the effects are becoming hard to manage.
My aim is to listen to you without judgement, and to support you as you come to a greater understanding of yourself over the course of our sessions together. We will meet once per week for 50 minutes.
Counselling can help you feel ready to think through the difficult emotions, thoughts, and memories that you might not feel able to examine alone. By understanding the relationships that you have in your past, your present, and in the consulting room, we can uncover your emotional patterns and defences. We can work together to see how you might want, and be able, to improve your capacity to change.
I work from confidential counselling rooms in London at Borough House Rooms, 78-80 Borough High Street, SE1 1LL near London Bridge and Borough underground stations. These rooms are between five and ten minutes’ walk from both stations.
I also offer counselling online via Zoom.
My first session
In our first session, I will ask you to talk through your problems in your own words. I will pay particular attention to your personal and family history, and to why you have decided to come to counselling at this moment in your life.
I suggest that we meet four times in total before deciding whether we want to work together in the long term.
