About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I'm Helen, I guess if you are here, you are looking for someone to work with you through something thats difficult for you right now. It can be a hard to make that first step, which I am aware of and so want to make your enquiry as easy as possible. Whilst being professional, I am also friendly, and compassionate, and down to earth, and my private practice is dedicated to providing a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space for you to explore your feelings and thoughts.

Whether face-to-face or through the convenience of online sessions via video link, my commitment remains unwavering – to support you in your pursuit of a healthier and more fulfilling life. I can guide you through to a personalised therapeutic experience, helping you to feel empowered, and helping you to navigate your emotions and discover the ideal talking therapy for you. I am an Integrative psychotherapist, and am trained at Masters Level, spanning over 6 years, so I'm able to work within several modalities, Person centred therapy, Cognitive behaviour therapy, Attachment theory, Object relations, to name a few, but this means that you have a therapeutic experience that is tailored to your own needs.

I have a background as a graphic designer, and then a senior lecturer, so am familiar with working within the arts, as well as business and education of students, all of these aspects help me to bring experience of life being lived, and the difficulties that brings.

I have a special interest in ADHD, having completed research on this subject. As well as personal experience of working with ADHD and with clients, I understand the struggles and frustrations, the shame and critical voices so can work with you through increasing your knowledge by giving information and techniques, as well as working personally through reframing how you see yourself, and bringing you to a place of thriving.

Practice description

Therapy or counselling,  offers invaluable support for individuals grappling with a myriad of challenges. If you find yourself burdened by the weight of anxiety, stress, depression, or agitation, therapy provides a safe space to explore and address these concerns.

In the realm of work-related challenges, where the demands of professional life impede personal well-being, therapy becomes a guiding light. Together, we can navigate the intricate layers of your experiences, collaboratively working towards positive change. Whether the goal is to alleviate anxiety, manage stress, overcome depression, or regain a sense of balance and productivity, therapy serves as a powerful tool for fostering lasting transformation.

My first session

For those clients who prefer to work from the comfort of their own home, I can offer virtual zoom sessions. For those wishing for face-to-face counselling, my practice is totally private, where we can sit comfortably, quietly, and privately, to talk. Our first session is spent getting to know you, you talking about what you want from therapy and what your expectations are. Together we form a plan going forwards of how we can work together. There is no commitment needed after that session, but usually people go on to book weekly sessions for as long or as short as they choose.
