About me and my therapy practice
As a qualified person-centred counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I am committed to offering a safe, empathetic, and confidential space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. My approach is rooted in the belief that each person has the capacity for growth and healing within themselves, and my role is to support you on that journey.
Practice description
I have extensive experience working with individuals facing a range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, trauma, and relationship difficulties. My person-centred approach is non-directive, which means that you are in control of the content and pace of our sessions, while I provide understanding and support to help you find your own solutions.
I believe in the power of a strong therapeutic relationship and aim to build trust, allowing you to feel heard, valued, and understood without judgment. Whether you are looking to explore a specific issue or seeking a space for self-discovery, I am here to walk alongside you on your path to greater emotional well-being.
I also have three years experience working with young people between the ages of 13 and 18 who have mental health and behavioural issues. I currently work part-time as an assistant psychologist delivering therapeutic interventions.
My first session
Our first session will involve reading and signing a contract, this is important to set out what is expected from me as a counsellor and you as a client. I will then explain that I do and do not do as a counsellor, much of the first session will involve me talking to you about how counselling works. We will then talk about you and what challenges you face in your life and work together to highlight which is causing you the most distress. This may sound daunting but I am here for you, I am your advocate in life and will always be on your side. I may then ask you to fill in an Patient Health Questionnaire and a General Anxiety Disorder questionnaire depending on your reasons for seeking therapy. These are mainly used to monitor your progress during therapy.
