About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I'm SJ a fully trained and insured Cognitive Behavioural Therapist.

I believe that therapy is a collaborative process where clients and therapists work together. My approach is rooted in CBT, a proven method for addressing a wide range of life's challenges. I strive to create a safe and inspiring space where you can develop the skills and strategies to work on whatever you may be struggling with.

I am committed to making you feel at ease and helping you reach your goals. I can help you with Anxiety - Worry - Fears & Phobias - ADHD - Addictions - Low Self Esteem - Loss- Low Mood - Depression - OCD - Frustration - Anger

Practice description

As an experienced Therapist,  my practice is centred on a relaxed and collaborative approach that emphasises understanding and partnership. I believe therapy should be a safe and supportive environment where clients can freely explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. My aim is to help you feel understood and ready to make meaningful changes in your life.

Grounded in CBT principles, I focus on the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. I understand that many struggles arise from unhelpful thinking patterns that can lead to anxiety, depression, or frustration. By collaborating, we will identify and challenge these patterns, enabling you to develop healthier perspectives and coping strategies. I see my role as a  collaborator, helping you navigate the complexities of your thoughts and feelings while encouraging self-discovery and growth.

I value the unique experiences each client brings to therapy and tailor my approach to meet your individual needs. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem , addiction  or relationship issues I am dedicated to providing personalised support that resonates with you. Practical exercises and techniques will often be incorporated to help you to take an active role in your progress.

In addition to our one-on-one sessions, I offer out of session support via tools and exercises.

My goal is to equip you with the skills and insights to thrive long after our sessions conclude.

My first session

From the moment you enter my practice, you will encounter a warm and inviting atmosphere that encourages open dialogue. I recognise that seeking therapy can be daunting, and I strive to make that journey as comfortable as possible. Together, we will work to unravel the thoughts and patterns that keep you feeling stuck, gaining clarity and insight into your experiences.

Ideally we would look to identify goal to achieve from therapy and we will check in to ensure there is progress being made towards this throughout your sessions.

Throughout our time together, I will encourage you to explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. My non-directive approach allows you the freedom to delve into what matters most to you. Understanding underlying issues is crucial for making lasting changes, and I am committed to walking alongside you on this journey.
