About me and my therapy practice

There are times in which you may find yourself in challenging situations leaving you with overwhelming feelings such as sadness, anxiety or isolation. You may struggle with day to day tasks, experience difficulties in relationships and feel misunderstood or judged by others.

Accessing support through counselling is how I can help you to understand your situation, allow you to feel heard and validate your experiences. Together we can establish effective tools and skills which is crucial to navigating these hurdles. Helping you to foster a path towards a brighter and healthier future.

Hi I'm Lorna, and I am a person-centred counsellor.

This means I focus on creating a calm, safe and non-judgemental space in order for you to share your thoughts, feelings and experiences. My goal is to understand you and your concerns from your perspective, and help you gain insight, clarity and a deeper understanding of yourself.

One thing we all have in common is our mental health, but sometimes unexpectedly things crop up which you might not be sure why or where this has come from. Building a therapeutic relationship, will hopefully give you the courage and confidence to share what is going on for you. It might be the first time you’ve been able to say it out loud, but together we will explore and to understand what is going on for you.

I currently work with adults, experiencing anything from anxiety to depression and many other mental health concerns.

Practice description

Initial Consultation: Your journey begins with an initial consultation where I'll discuss your concerns, goals, and what you hope to achieve in therapy. This session is an opportunity for you to ask questions about the therapeutic process and for us to determine how best to work together.

Regular Sessions: Therapy sessions typically last for 60 minutes and can be scheduled weekly, or fortnightly. I can't emphasize enough that a consistent approach will help you gain momentum in your therapeutic journey.

Confidential and Non-Judgmental Space: I provide a warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental space for you to share your thoughts and feelings openly. Confidentiality is of utmost importance to me.

Ongoing Support and Resources: Throughout your time in therapy, I will provide you with tools and resources, to further support your growth. My aim is to empower you to apply what you learn in session to your daily life.

My first session

Finding the right counsellor is one of the most important things you can do. That is why I offer a free initial 30 minute consultation. I will ask you a few questions to find out what is going on for you, whilst you have the chance to get to know me.

I also offer Pay What You Can sessions for those unwaged or on a low income. Message me if you’d like to learn more.
