About me and my therapy practice
About Me and My Practice
Hello, and welcome to Innerworth Counselling. I’m Donna Thomas, and I’m here to support you on your journey toward healing and self-discovery. I’ve spent over a decade helping people navigate life’s challenges—from overcoming addiction to finding clarity and balance during difficult transitions. I believe that everyone has the capacity to grow, heal, and find peace, and I’m committed to creating a compassionate, non-judgmental space where that can happen.
How I Work
In our sessions, you’re at the center of the process. My approach is collaborative, which means we work together to explore what’s holding you back, build on your strengths, and find the path forward that feels right for you. Using a combination of person-centered therapy, cognitive-behavioral techniques, and body-based (somatic) practices, I look at both your mind and body as essential parts of healing.
I understand that each person’s story is unique, and our work will be tailored to what you need—whether it’s managing stress, working through grief, understanding patterns, or navigating a life change. I offer flexible ways of connecting, from in-person sessions to online appointments and even Walk and Talk sessions outdoors for a change of pace.
It can feel daunting to reach out, but know that every step you take is a move towards feeling more connected and confident. At Innerworth Counselling, my goal is to help you feel truly seen, valued, and empowered to face whatever life brings. If you’re ready to begin, I’m here to walk alongside
Practice description
What to Expect at Innerworth Counselling
Welcome to Innerworth Counselling. My aim is to create a safe, welcoming space where you feel comfortable being yourself and exploring whatever’s on your mind. I know that reaching out for support can feel daunting, so from the moment we start, my goal is to make sure you feel heard, valued, and truly understood.
In our sessions, I’ll be here to support you through whatever challenges you’re facing, whether it’s managing anxiety, working through grief, dealing with feelings of overwhelm, or simply figuring out what’s next in life. My approach is conversational and down-to-earth, with a focus on meeting you where you are and building a path forward together. I use a mix of therapeutic techniques, including person-centered therapy, practical tools from CBT, and mindfulness practices to help you connect with your thoughts, emotions, and even the physical ways you carry stress.
I offer flexible ways to work together to make sure our sessions fit your needs and comfort level. Whether you prefer in-person sessions, online therapy, or Walk and Talk sessions outdoors, we’ll find the right approach for you. Each session is a space for you to feel supported and gain tools to help you manage life’s ups and downs.
Therapy is a personal journey, and I’m here to walk alongside you. My hope is that together, we can build your resilience, self-acceptance, and a deep sense of inner worth.
My first session
Your first session with me is all about getting comfortable, setting the foundation for our work together, and helping you feel supported from the very start. We’ll take our time in this initial meeting to get to know each other, talk about what’s bringing you to therapy, and explore what you hope to achieve. This session is a space for you to share as much—or as little—as you feel ready to.
Before we meet, I’ll send over a short intake form to help me understand your background and any specific goals you have. In our first session, we’ll go over this together and discuss any questions you have. I’ll also walk you through how therapy works with me, explain my approach, and ensure you feel comfortable with the process.
I offer this first session at my standard rate, and if we both feel that we’re a good fit, we can set up a plan for our future work together. I aim to make this initial session as relaxed and helpful as possible, creating a welcoming environment where you feel valued, listened to, and ready to begin your journey.
