About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I'm Jules, a qualified Counsellor and a Registered Member of the BACP. I currently work in private practice and with a local BACP accredited counselling agency, where I support both adults and young people through life's challenges.
I have the privilege of working with people from all walks of life, offering a safe, non-judgmental space where we can explore difficult emotions and experiences together. I truly believe in the power of counselling to bring positive change, and I am passionate about the impact it can have on improving mental well-being.
If you’re facing tough times, whether it’s something recent or from the past, please know that you don’t have to go through it alone. Counselling can provide the support you need, helping you work through those challenges at your own pace. I understand that taking the first step can feel daunting, and I’m here to offer warmth, empathy, and understanding as we work together in a space where you can feel truly heard.
If you're curious about how we might work together, feel free to reach out to me by email. I'd be happy to arrange a free 20-minute call to discuss your needs and see how I can support you.
Practice description
I’m an Integrative Counsellor, which means I combine different theories and ways of working to best meet your needs. The foundation of my practice is ‘Person Centred‘, which means I see you as a unique individual, understanding your personal experiences, supporting you to find the best outcomes. We will work together at your pace, focusing on what’s right for you.
I offer face to face counselling and online video sessions to suit your needs.
I work with adults and young people 16+
My first session
Taking that first step in deciding to begin counselling can be daunting, it’s natural to feel a mix of emotions including nervousness, anticipation and even a little apprehension, but rest assured, these feelings are completely normal.
To help you feel as comfortable as possible, here is an insight as to what to expect when you first contact me:
Once I receive your enquiry, I aim to respond within 24 hours, so you won’t be left waiting. You will then be offered a free consultation, which can take place via phone or video call, so we can meet each other, and I can understand what brings you to counselling. We will then be in a better position to decide if we are a good fit to work together.
Counselling is collaborative process and feeling comfortable with your therapist is essential. No two individuals are the same and what suits one person, might not suit another. There is no obligation to go ahead, and I won’t be offended if you decide me or my approach to Counselling is not for you. Equally, it is important for therapists to work within their limits of expertise and if I feel what you are bringing is outside of my limits I will do my best to signpost you to get the help you need.
I will then send you a copy of my contract. We will also talk through the contract at the start of our first session and you can ask any questions or concerns you may have, and once you are happy with it, we will both sign.
In our first session we will also establish a goal for our work together. This is something that we will keep checking in on throughout the process. I offer open ended counselling which means the length of the process is up to you and we will work towards an ending when you feel you are ready to. Each process is entirely different, with some clients wanting short term therapy and others wishing to work longer term. Sometimes clients find that through our work their goal changes, that's is fine too.
