About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapists (MBACP) and an accredited member of The National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).
I have spent over 25 years in the corporate arena supporting individuals experiencing workplace issues including whistleblowing, grievances, redundancy, settlement agreements, bullying and harassment, capability, competency, discipline hearings and workplace stress, and have a deep understanding of the emotions these events may have on individuals.
I have worked within the NHS Mental Health Teams and also with individuals who have suffered or who are at risk of suffering domestic, financial, emotional and/or sexual abuse. I provide open-ended counselling and support, offering a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can feel safe and confident to open up about whatever difficulties you are bringing. My role is to facilitate the process by exploring and problem solving together, guiding you towards a place of resolution, wellbeing, and healing, through my offering of both short and long-term therapy, tailored to your specific needs.
Practice description
As a therapist, I work holistically and believe in taking a whole person approach to therapy, tailoring sessions to your individual needs and preferences. If beneficial, I integrate a number of different therapy models, including but not limited to, Person Centred Therapy (PCT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Mindfulness-based practices. Everyone is unique, and I believe each person should be treated in a way that best fulfils their own needs. Together, we may look at your past, present, and future beliefs whilst looking to strengthen your relationship with yourself as well as assisting you become more conscious of your values, beliefs, and limitations. We will work towards the changes you want to make in order to live the life you want.
In order to support my clients, I offer face to face, telephone and online appointments via video conferencing (Zoom / Skype / Teams / WhatsApp). I also have some evening and weekend availability.
My first session
I offer a free 15 minute telephone call. This initial conversation is about sharing information on both sides, with me sharing how I work and with you sharing what life's like for you and what areas you are wanting to explore.
This helps us establish if I am the right therapist for you and ensures I am qualified to meet your needs.
In the first session I will typically ask a few questions to get to know you a little, and may ask questions about why you want to see a therapist, how you've been feeling over the past few weeks, and your goals for therapy. We may also complete an assessment which can help measure progress as the we move forward.
