About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome. I am Alexia, an Accredited Psychotherapist, and fellow traveller in life.
- financial pressures,
- health concerns,
- family relationships, and/or
- work-related issues.
Who I am
I am providing counselling and psychotherapy across a range of contexts in the private and public sector, and offer short- and long-term therapy in South West London and online (via Zoom).
Experience
I have provided counselling and psychotherapy for various charities, like Mind, another charity offering counselling to women, a therapeutic community, etc.
Beyond psychotherapy, I have been working for the last 15+ years in the commercial sector as a marketing research consultant. I understand the challenges of balancing the demands at a 9-5 job with family, personal relationships and personal growth.
Qualifications
I have a Masters in Integrative Psychotherapy from the Metanoia Institute (London, UK), validated by Middlesex University.
I am a member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and follow their codes of conduct and ethical principles.
Practice description
How I can help
I offer a warm, confidential space for us to meet and explore what may be distressing you as well as your thoughts, feelings, beliefs, values, aspirations, challenges and/or joys. The aim of our exploration together is to better understand yourself and how you relate to your difficulties and feelings at this point in your life. With a deeper appreciation of how you respond to situations and why, new ways to relate to yourself and others can emerge.
During our sessions, we work together to identify and get a better understanding of your patterns as we experience them together. I pay particular attention to how your present situation can be influenced by your past, and how this may be shaping our work together in the sessions. To facilitate this, I stay open to your experience in a non-judgemental way, ask questions, reflect back aspects of your life, and may offer what I experience in our sessions, so we can examine them from a different viewpoint together.
How I work
I believe we are all fundamentally unique, and thus one single theory or approach cannot work for everyone. I work in an integrative way, bringing together my values and a range of theories to best meet your personal aims and growth. From the start, we can discuss your aims and how we may move towards them together. Our meetings occur at the same time every week either for an agreed period, or on an open-ended basis with a regular review.
