About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I am Kelly also known as; The hybrid Therapist. The reason for this name is, that I am also a Women's health coach, Nutritionist and well-being consultant. I work out of a wonderful space in Topsham surrounded by the countryside. It's a private, friendly and holistic space offering free parking and easy access.
My practice is wheelchair friendly and If I can do anything further to accommodate, any further needs, I will do my very best.
My approach is always concerned with the client.
Then it is about the relationship; what I need to know to further understand this person seeking help.
Lastly it’s about collaboration and flexibility. If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. This is a brilliant quote to underpin what I mean by this last approach to my work.
Working together in a flexible manner is so important to me. Together means that we respect one another, we collaborate on how we feel, think and visualise aspects of our work together. Being flexible means that we account for things not being perfect. Because the term perfect is an expectation we put on ourselves that is never reached.
I am grounded in understanding your needs, and collaborating in your trust, to progress at a pace that feels safe enough, to reach the destination. Wherever that may be.
Practice description
I offer a confidential space where you can be heard in a non judgmental manner. Together we will explore your history, thoughts, feelings and worries at a pace that suits you. I will help to support you by firstly listening, then coming together in a relational and collaborative way to help manage the impacts of what brings you into the therapeutic space.
I will always try my hardest to allow you, the client, the space to understand the impacts of your past, environment, relationships and the biggest one, yourself. I do not see myself as the expert but more as someone to hold a space to guide my clients towards the knowledge they already possess.
I am a person centred therapist.
Person-centered therapy is an optimistic, humanistic, and phenomenological approach to therapy. Person-centered theory posits that individuals have within themselves a capacity for dramatic and positive growth.”
[Sommers-Flanagan and Sommers-Flanagan], 2018, p. 24
I care about the depth of the relationship, how the client is feeling, what the client needs and how we challenge the process of therapy together.
Who am I.
