About me and my therapy practice
Welcome to my corner of the internet! I'm Shalini, my name is (pronounced shuh lee nee). I am a fully qualified BACP registered person centred therapist. I'm wondering what's brought you here today? If this is the first time you are seeking a therapist or have previously worked with one I am ready to meet you where you find yourself today.
My experience includes working within a community mental health charity partnered with the NHS, as well as with an autism charity based in Northwich. This has allowed me to support individuals from diverse backgrounds, each with unique needs, in navigating a variety of mental health challenges. My work in these settings has provided me with a deep understanding of the complexities people face and has enhanced my ability to tailor my approach to suit individual needs, particularly in relation to neurodiversity and mental health support.
Practice description
I am a person-centred therapist. The person centred approach places a strong emphasis on the client's own experiences, feelings, and capacity for self-directed growth. This means I will accompany you in your journey of self exploration. We will find a way to work through what you bring to our sessions in a gentle, non-directive, supportive - yet proactive and challenging way.
People process their emotions and experiences in different ways due to their neurotype, environment, and personal background. As a person-centred therapist, I recognize that each individual is unique, and I aim to honour and respect these differences. My approach is flexible, allowing me to adapt to the specific way you experience and make sense of the world.
Together, we will create a therapeutic relationship that is authentic and empowering, providing you with the space to explore, reflect, and grow at your own pace. Whether you are navigating specific challenges or seeking deeper self-understanding, I will support you in finding your own answers, fostering your inner strength and resilience.
Ultimately, my goal is to work in partnership with you, respecting your autonomy, your pace, and your personal journey, while also gently challenging and encouraging you to explore new perspectives and possibilities for growth.
My first session
Once I receive your initial enquiry, I will contact you via your preferred method either email or phone to arrange a brief, no-obligation consultation (15-20 minutes). During this consultation, we’ll discuss your needs, expectations, and how therapy can best support you. Afterward, we can schedule our first full session.
In our first session, we'll dedicate the first 10 minutes to reviewing key aspects of our therapeutic agreement, including confidentiality and the nature of our work together. The remaining time will be focused entirely on you, allowing us to begin addressing your goals and concerns.
