About me and my therapy practice

Do you often feel that you are the one holding everything together? Are you the ‘responsible one’, always putting other people first whilst feeling overwhelmed and sometimes forgotten? You might feel emotionally exhausted, struggling with chronic anxiety-always anticipating the next crisis and drowning in carrying the emotional and practical weight of others around you. You don’t have to carry this alone.

I specialise in helping people like you – those that have grown up taking care of everyone else – gain clarity, find relief and balance. Together we can create a safe space where you feel heard and supported as you define boundaries, manage anxiety and overwhelm and explore your own needs and identity.

Counselling is your space to reflect, focus on you and heal. Let’s work together to help you let go of everything you have been carrying and step forward into a life that feels more aligned to who you truly are and feeling much lighter.

I’m Amy and I grew up as a self-professed ‘fixer’. I became an expert in keeping things running smoothly and highly practiced at putting myself last. The irony was not lost on me that I found myself in project and managerial roles for 15 years – holding things together for others – before I became a counsellor. So I absolutely understand the challenges of balancing a busy life and your own emotional wellbeing- I’ve felt the pain of chronic anxiety and emotional exhaustion.

I believe that the most important thing is finding a counsellor that you click with and feel comfortable enough to talk to. I believe that we can start to feel better when we find someone who understands us and you can find connection with. I'm a professional counsellor but I'm a human first so I believe being my authentic self is also important. I also believe that counselling doesn’t always have to feel serious all of the time; I believe it can also feel empowering and exciting.

Practice description

Imagine if you could have the space to...

• Explore your own identity beyond the roles you play within your family, friendship groups or work

• Develop strategies for managing overwhelming feelings, understand your anxiety and learn ways to find relief

• Reconnect with your own desires, interests and values

• Unburden yourself and share feelings and thoughts you’ve suppressed for years

• Understand where your boundaries lie and learn to establish healthy boundaries and protect your time and energy

• Affirm that your feelings matter and that you are not selfish for prioritising your own well-being

• Recognise your value beyond your ability to care for others

• Challenge and work on your people-pleasing behaviours

Counselling could be that space for you to work through all of this - a judgement-free zone. I can provide a confidential space for you to work through your challenges. Together, we can make sense of what’s happening. Counselling is more than just having someone to listen; I work side by side with you, building a meaningful relationship where we explore your experiences together.

I offer sessions in a peaceful, cosy room in Rayleigh, Essex, or online for those who prefer the convenience of being at home while still benefiting from the connection of face-to-face support. I also offer telephone counselling.

Reaching out can feel daunting, so I’m happy to start the conversation in a way that feels comfortable for you—whether via email, WhatsApp, or a free 15-minute chat to answer any questions you might have.

My first session

I offer a reduce rated 30 minute session for an initial consultation which gives us the opportunity to explore how we could work together, any questions you have and what you'd like to get out of counselling.
