About me and my therapy practice
I hold an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling and have worked in mental health since 2016, providing support within both the NHS and third-sector organisations.
I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is fundamental to creating lasting change. My approach is to offer a warm, empathetic space where clients can explore their concerns in a non-judgmental environment. I view therapy as a means of helping individuals achieve greater self-acceptance, improve relationships with others, and overcome destructive behavioural patterns, ultimately leading to more fulfilling lives.
Practice description
As an integrative counsellor, I draw on a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Person-Centred, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, Psychodynamic, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I believe there is no "one-size-fits-all" approach to therapy, and I tailor my methods to the unique needs of each client.
I have a particular interest in attachment theory and value understanding my clients' early experiences. However, I do not make this the central focus of our work unless it is something the client wishes to explore. My role is not to give advice but to walk alongside you in reflecting on your experiences, offering support, and helping you to identify pathways forward.
My first session
I offer an initial 20-minute consultation free of charge, providing an opportunity for you to discuss the issues you'd like support with, and to assess if I am the right counsellor for you. This session also allows us to decide if we can work together effectively. If we agree to move forward, I will provide a counselling contract outlining the logistics of our work together, including payment arrangements, holidays, and other relevant details.
In our early sessions, I will seek to gain an understanding of your presenting concerns, personal history, and current circumstances, including your background in family, education, work, and relationships. Additionally, I will explore your support system, mental health, and coping mechanisms, to better tailor our work to your needs and strengths.
