About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I am Alex.
I'm an accredited and fully qualified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist operating from Lichfield, Swadlincote and Burton on Trent.
I've worked as a counsellor since 2018. During that time I have worked with client experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, self-esteem, relationship issues, domestic and sexual abuse trauma, self-harm, gender identity and work-based difficulties.
I have work for various counselling organisations such as sexual and domestic abuse charities, schools, colleges and sixth forms & various mental health agencies.
In my private work I work adults and young people, providing both short and long-term therapy depending on an individual's need and goals.
You will find my approach warm, friendly and grounded, as well as practical, goal focused and no-nonsense making it easier for you to explore your thoughts, emotions and behaviours in a safe, non-judgemental, confidential space.
Practice description
As an intregrative psychotherapist this is what I can provide for you:
1. Personalised Treatment
I will adapt my methods to suit your unique issues, personality, and goals, ensuring a highly customised therapeutic experience.
2. Flexible Approach
I can use techniques from different schools of therapy (e.g., cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, person-centred therapy, attachment therapy and compassion focused therapy), allowing us to address a wide variety of concerns effectively.
3. Holistic Care
In my approach I consider the whole person—mind, body, emotions, and relationships—promoting comprehensive well-being.
4. Enhanced Problem-Solving
By combining methods, I can address both surface-level symptoms (like stress or anxiety) and underlying root causes (like past trauma or negative thought patterns).
5. Adaptability for Different Life Stages
As your life changes or challenges evolve, I can modify their approach to remain effective over time.
6. Focus on Strengths
I will emphasise your personal strengths and resources, empowering you to navigate challenges more effectively.
7. Cultural Sensitivity
My approach I will be incorporating cultural, spiritual, and personal values into therapy, making the process more relevant and meaningful to you.
8. Support for Complex Issues
If you’re dealing with multifaceted concerns (e.g., trauma, addiction, and relationship problems), my integrative approach can address multiple layers simultaneously.
9. Encourages Self-Awareness and Growth
We will foster self-reflection and personal growth by using diverse strategies that promote insight and self-understanding.
10. Strong Therapeutic Alliance
I prioritise building a trusting, empathetic relationship, which is a cornerstone of effective therapy.
By blending various techniques, I will provide a flexible and effective way to help you achieve greater mental, emotional, and relational health.
My first session
Whilst some people feel excited when beginning therapy, I recognise that for many, the idea of seeking therapy can feel nerve wracking or overwhelming. I understand the importance of finding a therapist that you feel comfortable and that you feel able to share your feelings and thoughts with.
So to help you get a sense who I am, how I work, and to enable you to make a more informed choice, I offer a free, first session for around 20 minutes. This will give you the opportunity to talk through any questions you might have, and decide if you would like us to continue working together.
Our first full session together will be your opportunity to continue the conversation about what has brought you to therapy, any goals you may have at your own pace. This will also help us to build an understanding of how we can work together in the best way possible.
I aim to provide a space where you feel safe to relax and take time for yourself, enabling you to work through whatever it is that you have on your mind at that time.
