About me and my therapy practice

Finding a therapist that matches your needs can be hard and time consuming. I offer an initial free 15 minutes telephone conversation where we can chat about your needs and I can explain a little about how I work. We can then decide if you would like to have a first session.

I am a fully qualified, BACP registered experienced therapist. I have a Diploma in Counselling from the Minster Centre in London. I have worked with  adults of all ages at various low-cost services, providing short and long term therapy. Examples of issues that I have worked are  depression, anxiety, loneliness, abuse, trauma, racial abuse, identity issues, grief, addiction, work-related difficulties. I am especially interest in working with issues around identity and belonging, which can impact our sense of self and our relationships.

In our first session, I will explain a little more about how I work but mostly, this is an opportunity for me to better understand what brings you to therapy and for you to decide if this would work for you.

If you decide to proceed, we will meet at an agreed time for a weekly session. Sessions last 50 minutes and together we will explore your lived experience and the difficulties that bring you to therapy. We will look at current circumstances, and make links with early life patterns, and together, work on strategies that will bring about relief and change.

How long we work together depends on you. There isn't a "one size fits all" answer to how long we work together, but I would suggest we contract to work for 6 sessions to begin with and then review where you're at.

Practice description

I work with adults of all ages and can accommodate in-person or online sessions, and occasionally, a blended model can suit work schedules and busy life-styles.

Sessions last 50 minutes.

I have worked with adults of all ages and backgrounds (including young adults) and, I have experience of working with short and long-term contracts.

I have worked with non-English speaking adults in Hindi and Urdu.

My first session

In the first session, I will ask you to describe in more detail, the issues that bring you to therapy and your goals for therapy. We will talk a little about family and relevant medical history.

I hope the first session will gave you an experience of the safe, confidential and unjudgemental space that I endeavour to provide.

I would then suggest that you have a think about whether you want to continue, and we can then agree a weekly time to meet.
