About me and my therapy practice
This decision is a significant step toward prioritising your well-being. It takes courage to reach out and ask for help, but you are not alone in this journey. Seeking support can lead to healing, growth, and new perspectives.
I understand what it means to be where you are now, and that your life may be leaving you feeling overwhelmed with thoughts of the past and anxiety or uncertainty about the future. Let me offer you some hope; change is possible.
Maybe you are suffering from low self-esteem, exhaustion, and struggling to cope? Maybe you have unresolved past experiences or trauma including domestic abuse which can be both physical and emotional. Perhaps you have a sense of panic about life, debilitating stress about work, or family? When we are struggling with something difficult, we can often feel unhappy, confused, anxious or overwhelmed which leaves us feeling stuck and unsure of where to start or what to do.
My training and experience allow me to work with you in an integrative way which means I can offer a range of therapeutic techniques to best support your individual needs. I offer a compassionate yet gently challenging approach to help you make meaningful lasting change. My approach is grounded in compassion, warmth, and without judgement, creating a safe space where you can explore and work through your challenges.
Having worked as a nurse within the NHS for 20 years, this enables me to bring a unique blend of empathy and resilience with a deep understanding of both the psychological and emotional aspects of health and well-being. Reclaim your life. I will give you the tools, skills, and approaches to do this in a safe space where you are firmly in the centre of our therapeutic relationship.
Whatever your reason for seeking therapy, please get in touch for an informal chat or to find out a little more about me and my approach, Louise.
Practice description
My approach is very much an integrated one. Whatever you may come to see me with, I will work with you as a person rather than a list of symptoms.
The most common reasons people consult me are Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression, Relationship Issues, Fertility Issues, Low self-esteem, Fear of failure, Emotional and Sexual abuse, Past Trauma, Stress, and exhaustion.
However, often people have more complex problems in which aspects of the issues listed may be a feature. And sometimes, people just feel stuck, that their life is not where they want it to be, and talking through things in a focused way with a trained professional can help gain clarity on what needs to change.
As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I follow a set of ethical principles and guidelines that underpin my practice. I maintain and enhance the quality of my work through regular supervision and continued professional development.
I work flexibly in a way that is tailored to you and am warm, compassionate and my approach will be without judgment, creating a safe space where you can explore and work through your challenges with me alongside you.
My first session
I offer a free 20-minute consultation so that you can learn more about how I work and I can learn more about you and the issue(s) you want to work on. From there, you can decide if we are a good fit.
In our first session, I will explain more about how the therapy works, confidentiality, etc and we will form a working agreement. All paperwork including the contract will be sent to you to agree and sign.
We can talk through what has brought you to counselling so I can get a fuller picture of you (your background, any previous counselling/therapy, any medication, the current challenges you are facing, etc) to enable a thorough assessment.
The counselling relationship is a crucial part of successful therapy, so you need to see whether you feel you could comfortably work with me.
My fee is £55 for a 50-minute session.
