Availability

I currently have availability both in person and on-line. I generally work Tuesday and Thursday during the day and evenings and I will work at the weekend on an ad-hoc basis if required.

About me and my therapy practice

Originally graduating as an engineer, I decided to broaden my horizons by working abroad. This international experience provided me with a deeper understanding of different cultures and work environments. Initially volunteering in Namibia for 2 years, I then stayed overseas for the next 12 years, living and working in a variety of contexts including Afghanistan, Pakistan, the Philippines, Indonesia, Sudan and South Sudan.

When I completed my last full-time overseas position, I was offered a psychological debriefing, which started my personal therapy journey. This pivotal moment marked the beginning of my emotional healing and self-discovery process and led to my present position as a psychotherapist and counsellor.

I continue to work within the humanitarian sector, as well as working with veterans, those in leadership positions, and anybody who feels I am the right fit to support them through their therapy journey.


Practice description

I work both on-line and face to face in Nottingham, with flexible availability to increase access, particularly for people who may travel with work or do not have regular hours.

Everyone has a different journey that brings them to the therapy, so how therapy unfolds will be different for everybody. Using Transactional Analysis and a trauma focused approach I hope to provide you with the tools and resources you need to reconnect with yourself and others, fostering a sense of belonging and empowerment. I believe we all have the capability to resolve our own issues, but sometimes we need guidance to access those inner resources.

Life often throws many ups and downs our way. Sometimes we cope and sometimes it feels just too much. Therapy can help you regain your equilibrium, providing a safe space for you to share your concerns with somebody who will really listen. I know it can be difficult to ask for help, “I have no right to feel like this because ...” is a common sentiment - but you do have that right. Counselling can help you to understand yourself and build your own resilience and long-term mental well-being. Whether you wish to tackle a particular dilemma or explore underlying issues, it is important you allow yourself the time and space you need.

Feelings of isolation and overwhelm can catch up with us all. Having worked for many years overseas in the humanitarian sector I have first-hand experience of coping with these issues on a day-to-day basis and this life experience shapes the support I offer. I also understand the challenges, obstacles and opportunities faced by those working overseas, their families, friends and colleagues.

My first session

Every person is different and what we will discuss, and for how long, will depend on you. Finding the right therapist can take time, so to assist this process I offer an initial free consultation of 20 minutes. This can be on-line or by phone.
