About me and my therapy practice
I work integratively, which means I draw from different approaches. I believe in working collaboratively with my clients, and the quality of the working relationship is the most important component of counselling. I also believe that counselling is undertaken to help you lead a better life.
Holding a BA (Hons) in Theology and Counseling, I adhere to strict ethical standards by following the BACP ethical framework to ensure high-quality client care. Regular clinical supervision is vital for my professional development, allowing me to evaluate and enhance my counselling techniques. Additionally, I maintain professional insurance to protect both myself and my clients. By upholding these principles, I create a safe and effective counselling environment for those seeking support and guidance.
Practice description
I provide individuals with unique opportunities to confront their challenges in a safe and private setting. As a counsellor, I offer a fresh perspective on these issues and guide clients toward greater self-understanding. My approach emphasizes empowerment over quick fixes, enabling individuals to take control of their personal growth and healing journeys. I am committed to maintaining ethical practices and professional standards while helping people from diverse backgrounds navigate life's complexities.
I have over two decades of experience in pastoral ministry and a solid commitment to serving individuals and communities through spiritual guidance and support. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministries, which equips me with theological insights and practical tools for navigating the complexities of faith in diverse congregational settings.
Additionally, I have been a foster carer for fifteen years, using my Postgraduate Diploma in Fostering and Adoption to create a nurturing environment for vulnerable children and youth. This varied experience has enhanced my ability to connect with people, allowing me to serve as a counsellor in various contexts, including adult counselling services and youth programs in secondary schools. Through these roles, I have gained a deep understanding of individuals' challenges and developed a compassionate approach to supporting their journeys of healing and growth.
My first session
I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to discuss your concerns and answer any questions before our first session. Individual counselling sessions typically last 50 minutes and are held weekly, costing £50. I have openings for low-income individuals or students; please inquire about availability if you are interested. If you need to cancel an appointment, you must provide 48 hours notice. Failing to provide sufficient notice will result in a charge for missed sessions. Payments can be made in cash, by check, or through bank transfer, giving clients flexibility in choosing their preferred payment method.
