About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative therapist, working with you as you explore the issues that have brought you to counselling. Starting therapy can be quite daunting, and I offer a safe and non-judgmental space for you to pause and reflect – somewhere where it’s about you.
I provide a therapeutic environment where within our relationship, you feel heard, understood, and supported as you explore the challenges in your life.
I work integratively, with the core of my practice based on a person-centred approach. This means we work at your pace, where you decide what you want to bring to our sessions as I recognise that you are the expert on yourself. I integrate a psychodynamic approach, exploring different aspects of your past and present, as understanding patterns and relationships helps to understand where you are today and supports your journey toward growth and resolution.
I have worked with a wide range of clients with different issues and struggles, including anxiety, depression, abuse, trauma, bereavement, increasing self-awareness and low self-esteem. My experience includes working at a women’s centre, receiving extensive training relating to domestic abuse, including training with a charity that supports survivors of child sexual abuse. I also have experience working at a hospice, supporting people with their experience of grief and received training in regard to pregnancy and infant loss.
I respect diversity and difference, creating and maintaining an atmosphere of openness, trust and safety.
I have a level 3 certificate in British Sign Language, and although I am unable to provide sessions purely in BSL, I am deaf aware.
Practice description
I work with individual adults, offering both short-term and long-term support.
I offer both face to face and online counselling from my practice in Sutton, providing a quiet, private, reflective space.
My first session
Before our first session, I offer a free short call lasting roughly 20 minutes to discuss what has led you to seek therapy and what you want to work on. We will also complete a short assessment form and I will take down a few of your details. This call provides you with the opportunity to get a feel for me and a feel for our therapeutic “fit”, allowing you to make an informed decision in regard to us working together.
In our first session we will look at your expectations and what you want to achieve in more detail, building an important foundation for our work together. Your first session, like all your sessions will be about having your time and space to explore what you want to bring.
