About me and my therapy practice

About me

I am a qualified counsellor, registered with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. My style of therapy is integrative with a person-centred framework. This means that I work relationally, focusing on what you bring to each session and helping you explore the feelings around it. I offer short term (12 sessions), longer-term or open-ended sessions depending on what you need. To get started I offer a free 30-minute phone consultation to work out if we are a good fit for each other. I believe the relationship between counsellor and client is crucial so it is important to make sure you could feel comfortable talking with me and this gives you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

How I work

My focus is to create a warm and safe environment where you can feel secure discussing your feelings and any difficulties you may be facing. Life can be challenging in many ways, and my goal is to be a person who you can talk things through with. While I won’t advise you directly, I work collaboratively so we can try to see things from different angles, shed a new light on any problems you may be facing or understand yourself in more depth. I want to help you find some movement where you feel stuck and some peace where things feel overwhelming.

Practice description

Areas of Experience

I have experience working with a large variety of issues such as anxiety in many different forms, depression, grief and loss, relationship issues, problems around work and careers, health concerns, caring responsibilities, suicidal ideation, anger, negative thought patterns, co-dependency and attachment issues.

I also train in existentialism so I have no problem working with life’s bigger questions, whether that be finding meaning when things feel meaningless or thinking about the finite nature of life and death and the uncertainty that surrounds both.

I have worked with people from all walks of life and value diversity in all its forms. Intersectional exploration of our identities and the aspects of them that can face oppression within our society is important, whether that be around race, class, religion, gender, sexuality, nationality, disability or any other part of ourselves. I am committed through my training and research to create a safe and inclusive space for all.

I am a LGBTQ+ friendly counsellor and have worked with people from different parts of the community and specifically with trans people.

I have experience of working with many different forms of neurodivergence, specifically with autistic people and those diagnosed later in life and figuring out what comes next.
