About me and my therapy practice

Welcome, thank you for visiting my profile. I’m a fully qualified counsellor and registered member of the BACP. My approach is trauma informed and I work relationally with clients to help them foster positive change. I provide effective online and in-person therapy for a range of issues from my dedicated therapy rooms in  Tadley and Dummer, Hampshire.

As a registered BACP integrative counsellor I work in a flexible way, drawing from a combination of therapeutic theories and techniques depending on your unique individual needs. I have trained in humanistic and person-centred therapy, CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy), psychodynamic and TA (Transactional Analysis) relational approaches. Further information about this can be found on my website: nancybrownliecounselling.com

I specialise in; trauma, unresolved childhood and relationship issues, grief, loss and bereavement, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, addictions, stress in the workplace, bullying, sleep problems, change and transition, and health issues.

I have extensive experience of working with young people and adults of all ages. Alongside my private practice I work part-time for a sixth form college, providing counselling for students and staff. I also have an up-to-date DBS check, hold my own insurance and am a member of the ICO.

Having worked for many years in the charity, mental health and education sectors and also in senior roles within a corporate environment, I have experience of working with clients from all walks of life.

Practice description

Life can be challenging, It can often be hard to make sense of thoughts and feelings and understand what’s stopping us from moving forwards.

Counselling provides the opportunity to talk confidentially with someone outside of your immediate circle. I believe the relationship between client and counsellor is integral to the counselling process. My role is to listen with empathy and to come alongside you, so that I can understand your world as it is for you.

Through my own personal experience and work with clients, I have seen that talking to a professional who is caring, non-judgemental and 100% focused on you can bring awareness, healing and transformation. It can facilitate insights into internal judgements, beliefs, thoughts and patterns of behaviour, as well as lead to self-compassion, freeing you to feel lighter, which can in turn be the catalyst for long-term change and a new inner confidence.

Therapy doesn't have to be long-term. You may need help if you are dealing with loss, health issues, changing jobs, leaving a relationship, stepping up or changing your career, or entering retirement. Counselling can help you navigate difficult periods of transition in your life.

I offer short-term or open-ended counselling so that we can work at a pace and depth that suits you. During the counselling process I provide regular reviews and together we'll review your goals and progress, so that I can facilitate any changes to the therapy if required.

I truly believe that with time, empathy, and understanding, everyone can grow to reach their full potential and live the life they wish for.

My first session

I offer a no-cost 20 minute telephone introductory session. This is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for you to let me know what brings you to counselling. It will also enable you to ask any questions you may have about myself and the counselling process.

To book this initial consultation, please leave me a voice message at 07521498606 or send me an email at info@nancybrownliecounselling.com. I aim to respond to enquiries on the same day during workdays.

If you are happy to proceed, we can agree a regular time and day for our work together.
