About me and my therapy practice

I'm a Psychodynamic Therapist & Counsellor, with a Masters degree and CHE from Birkbeck University of London together with Bachelors degree in Drama. My work at an LGBTQ+ counselling charity gave me a much closer insight into some of the challenges and experiences of people in this group.

I believe therapy gives us a chance to make sense of our inner world - the thoughts, feelings, impulses that we experience but don't always understand. Just like a personal trainer does with the body, therapy can help uncover, study and work with our unconscious, and our past, and how it influences us.

Therapy can certainly offer a powerful source of help when life becomes difficult and painful, but it can also be helpful even outside of times of desperation and need. It is exploratory, and sometimes painful and illogical - and takes time, but the rewards and discoveries can be life-changing and unexpected.

Practice description

I can offer a calm space that is contained, safe and without judgement - and will work alongside you as you discover, explore, and begin to understand what makes you who you are, and how it shapes you; to enable insight and change.

I offer both in-person and online therapy, primarily for longer term work, but short term time limited work is also available.

I would aim to meet weekly, and recognise that consistent, regular work together is where the strength of psychodynamic therapy lies.

My first session

I offer a 20 min telephone call initially, at no charge, for a conversation about what brings you to therapy and to get a feel for if we might be able to work together, and  for any questions you may have.

After this a first consultation would follow, which would be more exploratory in nature, to understand a bit more about you and what you are looking for in the work. This would be a chance to discuss logistics and housekeeping details with no commitment.  After this session if we both feel we could work well together, we can agree and arrange a regular weekly session.
