About me and my therapy practice

Hi, my name is Julie,

Are you waking up during the night, your mind racing with overwhelming thoughts? Does stress about the day ahead feel like a constant weight? Perhaps you're withdrawing from social interactions, Let's talk it through in a calm confidential space.

We all have a deep need to be heard, accepted, valued and understood. Yet, many times in life, we may not experience these things, leaving us feeling misunderstood, judged, confused and alone. Even with supported family and friends, it can be hard to fully open about our true feelings for fear of hurting, upsetting or burdening them.

People often look to access therapy when they have experienced difficult life events such as bereavement. This may be the loss of a loved one, a job, a relationship, a home or a pet. I'm here to support you, please know you are not alone. To put in simple terms, I am very easy to talk to, and alongside you I would help you to navigate the challenges that led you to this search.

As a person-centred counsellor, I offer a warm, accepting and confidential space where you can freely express your thoughts and emotions. I recognise that our present experiences can be influenced by past events. I am here to help you explore such issues and encourage you to gain mindful insights that can positively influence your current situation and circumstances.

I tailor therapy to each individual, as no two people are the same, we all have our own unique personalities, experiences and needs, it's important to find a therapist who truly resonates with you for the best outcome. I do appreciate that therapy may be an emotionally challenging experience, so therefore I will work with you, at your pace, to help you, find your answers, I provide a non-judgemental space where you will be accepted for who you are, with the aim to building a genuine relationship of respect, empathy and trust.

Practice description

In my private practice I have a special interest in working with bereavement. Losing someone close to you can be incredibly painful, and when that loss is sudden or unexpected, the grief can feel even more overwhelming. Whether you're coping with anticipated grief, sudden loss, loss due to suicide, or the unimaginable pain of losing a child, you don't have to face this alone. As someone with lived experience of losing a child, I understand the profound sorrow and complex emotions that come with such a devastating loss. In my role as counsellor, I can help you navigate the pain, confusion, and isolation that often accompany such traumatic events I am here to support you with empathy and understanding. Everyone's grief is different, and there is no 'right' way to grieve. We will work together to help you process your emotions and find a way to heal, honouring your loved one in the process.

I have experience working with all forms of anxiety and low mood/depression, I believe this is something we can all experience at some point in our lives. My speciality is being able to sit with clients in emotional pain they are experiencing and be alongside whilst making sense of it together.

I offer both online counselling and telephone sessions throughout  the UK, including regions such as Scotland, London, North East England, West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, East Yorkshire, East Midlands, West Midlands, South / South West of England.

I offer a free 15 minute consultation either online or telephone, please call, email or message to arrange a time/day that suits.

If you decide you would like to continue working together we would then look to book your first counselling session. Online sessions are via zoom. If you're concerned about using technology, don't worry, I'll send you a simple link to join the session, with no need to download any software. I will ask you a few personal questions such as your address, GP details, along with some questions about how you have been feeling in the last couple of weeks.

Ongoing sessions will be open-ended, allowing for us to adapt the pace and focus based on your needs. During our sessions, we will regularly review your progress and any changes in your circumstances, ensuring that our work remains relevant and effective.

Sessions usually take place at the same day/time each week, although I understand life gets in the way sometimes.

If you're ready to begin your counselling journey, please contact me to arrange a confidential consultation. Together, we can navigate your challenges and work toward a happier, more fulfilling life.

Take the first step today by reaching out for a confidential consultation. I am here to guide you through this difficult time.
