About me and my therapy practice
Have you had enough of feeling like there is something wrong but don’t know how to make it better? Maybe you are overwhelmed by life, wanting to feel more in control but not sure where to start? Or maybe you’re hiding your true self, the person you want to be, because the judgment of others is just too much to bear? If any of these struggles ring true for you, then I believe, together, we can make sense of it all.
As a qualified person-centred counsellor, I can offer you the time and space to explore your thoughts, emotions and behaviours free from judgement, with complete compassion and understanding. You will lead the session, deciding what you want to focus on, and I will listen and respond in a way that will help you to understand yourself better, decide what changes you want to make and help you to feel empowered to bring about that change.
I will not pretend to be the expert in your life so at no point will I tell you what to do because only you can really know what is best for you. To begin with this may feel strange but the goal of person-centred therapy is for you to stop listening to what everyone else thinks and begin to trust your own inner voice allowing you to make your own decisions and move forward with confidence.
Alongside my private practice I work with clients at a women’s charity and provide counselling sessions to women experiencing domestic abuse, depression, anxiety, bereavement, addiction and issues relating to low self-esteem. If you are experiencing any of these struggles, I can offer you a safe and confidential space for you to talk about what happened/is happening, any challenging emotions or thoughts you might have, the impact the situation is having on other aspects of your life and how you might find a way through to a more peaceful existence.
Practice description
I offer online and telephone sessions to clients nationwide, as well as face to face sessions in my therapy room in Denby Dale, (a village not far from Huddersfield, Wakefield and Barnsley areas).
I typically meet with clients on a weekly basis but can discuss a more flexible arrangement to suit your needs.
At the moment I have availability on Tuesday evenings, Thursdays and Fridays.
Sessions start at £45 for a one hour session. I do charge concessionary rates based on individual circumstances and for trainee counsellors.
My first session
To help you decide if I am the right counsellor for you I offer a free 20 minute telephone session where I can tell you more about what you can expect and you can ask me any questions you might have. It’s so important that you feel completely comfortable with your counsellor, so this is an opportunity for you to get a feel of who I am and how I work.
