About me and my therapy practice
Welcome to Nightingale Counselling. My name is Emma Nightingale.
I am a Person-Centred, Trauma-Informed, Desborough-based counsellor. I am experienced in working with complex issues to include the impact of childhood adversity incl. abuse, complex mental health issues incl. complex trauma, depression & anxiety. As well as stress, low self-esteem & bereavement.
I am BACP-registered & have 20+ years experience in supportive roles within education, mental health provisions, and victim support services including MIND (Mental Health Charity) and New Futures (a trauma-informed service providing holistic support for women in Leicester).
I hold a level 4 Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling as well as an hons degree in Psychology and Counselling. I have extensive continued professional development certificates spanning my career including the courses, Mental Health and the Body: Treating Trauma and, the Physiology of Domestic Violence.
Although my vocational experience informs my work, I believe that my strength as a counsellor lies in my ability to meaningfully connect with my clients. I hold hope for my clients truly believing that counselling will offer an opportunity for them to make things better.
I am committed to offering empathy & non-judgemental acceptance of my clients' unique experiences and my approach is grounded in the belief that each person inherently possesses the ability to grow & heal themselves.
Practice description
Nightingale Counselling provides a safe and welcoming space where clients are free to be themselves and feel accepted.
I offer face-to-face counselling sessions in a private garden room in Desborough, NN14.
The garden room is located in my family garden but is entirely separate from my family home, accessible through an external side gate and an independent entry system.
The counselling room is a private, confidential space with blinds for privacy, and toilet facilities are available for the exclusive use of clients.
Upon scheduling an appointment, I will provide you with my full address. Free, unrestricted parking is available on the public road outside. The space is heated and air-cooled for your comfort.
I also offer online sessions via Zoom.
My first session
Initially, I would arrange a free, no-obligation one-hour assessment appointment to get acquainted.
You can determine if I am someone you feel comfortable working with, while I can learn more about your past and present circumstances to ensure that the support I provide is suitable for you.
If we decide to work together, we will schedule your first counselling session, where you will lead the discussion on any topics of your choice.
