About me and my therapy practice

Perhaps the journey isn’t always about becoming something new, but rather about gently letting go of everything that no longer reflects who you truly are so that you can return to your most authentic self." – Paulo Coelho.

The unbecoming that Coelho describes above can be a bittersweet experience and often is not something we choose.

Perhaps the circumstances you, your child or your young person find yourselves in today are tossing you around in a whirlpool of emotions, creating anxiety, fear, uncertainty and/or heartbreak

You may feel as if life is untangling around you due to;

  • Bereavement.
  • School anxiety.
  • A late-life neurodivergent diagnosis.
  • A neurodivergent diagnosis in childhood or young adulthood.
  • Job loss or change.
  • Transitions in friendship groups.
  • Moving house or country.
  • Perimenopause.
  • Emptying nest.
  • Endings- such as a divorce, separation or with an intimate partner.

These events can set us on a journey we never packed for and leave us feeling unequipped. You might be experiencing the emotional, physical and psychological sensations of grief and loss and need help processing everything that is keeping you awake at night.

Or perhaps you’re feeling uncertain about who you are, where you belong, what you need, or where your life is heading. It can feel like walking through a fog or as if you are carrying a heavy weight, unsure of what lies ahead.

As a creative and expressive psychotherapist, I can walk beside and support you. With compassion and empathy, I can help you find your way through the fog and help you carry that heavy weight as you find your path. Therapy can empower you, giving you the tools and confidence to navigate life's challenges.

My approach is client-focused, and I will honour your unique journey and way of being. I will help you verbally and creatively process what unfolds within and around you, respecting your individual experiences.

If you are curious about working together, then please feel free to contact me.

Practice description

Throughout my training, I concluded that creative thinking and being is part of who I am, and bringing my whole self into the therapy room has been so important.

What this means for you is that I work creatively and expressively as part of my natural way of being; however, whether you choose to work that way yourself is something for you to ponder. There will be no pressure from me either way, and I welcome you regardless of whether you consider yourself creative.

I see my role as walking beside my clients, and I am committed to helping them untangle the thoughts, feelings, and emotions that may be bubbling inside.

These internal struggles can affect our decision-making process, relationships, health, sleep, school, work, or emotional and nervous system regulation.

Dr Brené Brown has a wonderful video on YouTube that defines empathy as the ability to;

Take the perspective of another person- recognising their perspective as their truth.

Stay out of judgment- or what therapists might call offering unconditional positive regard to clients.

Recognising emotion in other people- and being able to communicate what we see.

Connecting with people- feeling emotion inside my body helps me connect to what you might feel inside yours so we can start untangling your experiences together.

I offer an empathic, co-created therapeutic relationship to help each person I work with process what is happening in their inner and outer worlds.

I will respect any diagnosis or label that helps is part of your identity and provides a framework of understanding. Equally, I will respect exploration or your autonomous choice to disown any diagnosis or label that does not reflect your way of being.

I seek to help clients untangle who they are and find the confidence, inner strength, personal values, and nervous system regulation that might enable them to be themselves in a world that often does not understand or value our way of being.

If this feels helpful, then please get in touch.

My first session

During my work in the charity sector, I have come to appreciate and value signposting, understanding the broader world of clients, and determining whether I am the right therapist for you, your child, or your young person from an ethical and capability perspective. I also believe that you need comfort in knowing I am the person you want to work with.

This initial 30-minute session is a crucial step in our journey; thus, I charge £30 for it.

It's a time to discuss any accommodations you may need, share information that could be beneficial before we start therapy, or even explore the possibility of finding a therapist who is better suited to your specific needs and personality.

For adults- I can work nationally, online, via the phone, and face-to-face.

For teens and young people- I primarily work face-to-face; however, working online may be suitable, depending on the individual. This can be explored in the initial session.

For children aged 8+- I work face-to-face. However, there may be scope to work online using Minecraft therapy if this is suitable for your child. This can be explored in the initial session.
