About me and my therapy practice

Hello, my name is Emma. I am a qualified and experienced counsellor based in Walsall, West Midlands. As a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I am committed to providing a professional and ethical service, guided by their code of ethics.

I work with adults and teenagers aged 16 and above, offering compassionate support for a range of challenges. I specialise in anxiety, grief support and bereavement, women's issues and all forms of loss - such as loss of a home, identity, relationship, or job.

I aim to create a supportive and welcoming environment where you can explore your challenges and work towards meaningful change at your own pace. I have extensive experience in grief and loss support, trauma-informed counselling, and person-centred care. I am here to help you explore ways to manage life’s difficulties and move forward in a way that aligns with your needs and values.

An important part of counselling is the therapeutic relationship we build together. Our relationship is at the heart of the process, providing a nonjudgmental environment where you can feel understood and supported. I believe it is the connections we form with others that make all the difference - bringing understanding, fostering empathy, and helping us feel a sense of belonging. This relationship can aid in healing, build confidence, and offer comfort and resilience, even during the most challenging times.

Practice description

I work from a comfortable therapy room in Walsall, located on the Birmingham Road in a period building. Free parking and toilet access are available, though please note that the room is on the first floor, which may not be accessible for those with mobility challenges.

If you find it difficult to travel, I offer online counselling via video or telephone, providing support from the comfort of your home. I can also arrange home visits for individuals with mobility issues in the local area.

My approach is client-led, rooted in empathy, respect, and a commitment to supporting you at your own pace. I understand that everyone’s experiences, strengths, and challenges are unique, and I work with you to explore these in a way that feels empowering and meaningful.

In our sessions, I aim to create a supportive environment where you can reflect, gain insight, and navigate challenges. Together, we can process your experiences, build resilience, and help you reclaim control, confidence, and well-being. Whether you are facing anxiety, grief, loss, or other difficulties, my focus is always on your individual needs and goals.

As a trauma-informed practitioner, I recognise how deeply trauma can impact all aspects of life, from thoughts and emotions to behaviours and physical well-being. It often leaves individuals feeling stuck, disconnected, or unsettled. I am here to support you in navigating these challenges with care and understanding, working at a pace that feels right for you and always mindful of your unique experiences.

I invite you to visit my website, linked at the top of my profile, to learn more about my approach and see if we might be a good fit for your therapy journey. You’ll also find a blog and free resources focused on emotional health and self-care. I hope these resources offer support as you move forward.

If you'd like to book a free 10-minute introductory call to ask any questions or discuss how I can assist you, please get in touch.
