About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m Amy. I am a BACP registered therapist with experience working in both the charity sector and private practice.

I place individuals at the core of their confidential counselling sessions and integrate different approaches into my work, lending myself to a diverse range of people and issues. I lead with empathy, and I am committed to building a safe environment for you to express your emotions and explore your authentic self. I will actively listen to your experiences and try to understand from your point of view and at your pace.

My personal experience with Autism and ADHD has been the catalyst for my work with neurodivergent young people and adults. I have experience supporting individuals who were diagnosed in childhood, diagnosed later in life or are exploring the possibility of a diagnosis. I will work with you at any stage and welcome those who are self-diagnosed.

My first session

I offer a free 20-minute telephone call to discuss what working together would look like, your reasons for seeking counselling and what you would like to achieve. You are under no obligation to book further sessions if you do not feel like we would work well together. I am also happy to refer you to another counsellor if I feel that you’d benefit from their knowledge or expertise.

You can book a session straight away if you’d prefer to get started immediately.

In our first session, we will go through some background information questions, look through our counselling contract, and I will answer any questions you have about the therapeutic process or how I work as a counsellor. If you feel comfortable, we will start exploring what has brought you to counselling.
