About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Lesley, a counsellor supporting adults on their journey to wellbeing, growth and healing. I offer an integrative approach, drawing from different therapeutic fields to meet each client’s individual needs. Whether using person-centred techniques, cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), creative interventions, transactional analysis, gestalt or psychodynamic approaches, my focus is always in offering a non-judgmental, empathetic and caring space for my client to be heard.
Practice description
I have experience of working across a range of client issues including, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, anger management, low self-esteem, and relationship challenges. Over the last few years, I have had the privilege of working with clients at the YMCA.
I hold a Diploma in Counselling from Waverley Abbey College (validated through Middlesex University), and am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) as well as the Association of Christians in Counselling (ACC). I work from a room in Poole, as well as online.
I am committed to professional excellence, adhere to BACP and ACC ethical guidelines, and am fully insured. My practice is supported by regular supervision from a qualified and registered supervisor, which ensures I offer the highest standard of care and accountability.
My first session
Thinking about counselling can stir up feelings of uncertainty and worry. It's not uncommon for people to feel uncomfortable about approaching a counsellor, and to have anxious thoughts about what to expect. If you are apprehensive, please do feel free to reach out to me with any questions you may have.
To ease any reservations you may have, I offer a free 30 minute initial meeting (online or by telephone). This first session is an opportunity for you to share more about yourself and the challenges you are facing, in a safe and supportive space. There’s absolutely no pressure or obligation.
