About me and my therapy practice

Hello, my name is Kelly, from Kibo Counselling. I am close to the City Centre in Peterborough on a quiet road with easy parking.  I also have a practice in Oundle.

You have taken the first step by coming here today and acknowledging that you may need some support in the form of therapy. Maybe you are thinking that things are not how you wish them to be and you want to make changes. Everyone will face internal conflict at some point in their lives and together we can explore what’s troubling you and work towards finding new ways of coping.

Counselling is a journey of self-discovery and improved self-awareness.  As a counsellor I know how hard it is to make these changes and I am here to help support you on your journey. I offer you a safe, non-judgmental, and confidential space to explore your feelings.

I am not here to give advice but to listen and help you question the way you view things, and how that impacts how you behave or react to situations or people. Together we will explore new strategies for dealing with your situation.

Whatever you are feeling, I know what it feels like to feel lost, down and unsure what to do next. Contact me today for a free 15 minute consultation.

Practice description

I provide face-to-face, online, and telephone psychotherapeutic counselling.

I work from a Person-Centred Pluralistic approach. Person-centred involves creating a safe, empathic non-judgmental environment for you to explore your feelings and experiences openly. Pluralism acknowledges that no single therapeutic model fits all clients. It consists of drawing from multiple modalities based on your goals and issues, enabling a flexible and adaptable approach to therapy. I will often draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness and Brief solution Focussed therapy approaches.

I offer a service that is welcoming to all backgrounds in a supportive and non-discriminatory manner.  I'm here to listen as you talk about whatever's on your mind, to work with you to figure out why you feel the way you do, and to support you in taking the best possible care of yourself.

My first session

Your first session with Kibo Counselling will consist of an initial assessment, lasting 50 minutes. This is an opportunity to gather additional information, explore our working contract,  as well as what issues have brought you to counselling.

It will also be a chance for you to see if you are happy to work with me. Choosing a counsellor is an important step and it is okay to say that you don't wish to work with me as it needs to feel right for you.

I work with clients on an open-ended or short-term basis, both frequency and period will be discussed within the initial assessment session.
