About me and my therapy practice
I'm Julie Shipton MA, BSc (Hons) Psych, GMBPsS, PCBT (Foundation), CTP (Certified Trauma Professional), MNCPS (Acc.), MBACP and at Growing Wings, I'm here as your counsellor to provide you with the support and guidance you need on your journey towards healing and personal growth. My practice is built on a foundation of empathy and professionalism. I offer a range of therapeutic services to individuals of all ages either face to face in Swansea, or online. Whether you're an adult seeking a warm and supportive environment for self-discovery, a parent looking for help for your child, or a young person seeking emotional balance and resilience, I'm here to assist you. I provide both short-term and long-term therapy, tailored to your specific needs.Practice description
For adults seeking support, I provide a warm and supportive environment where we can explore your feelings and emotions, helping you find your path to recovery and personal growth. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, or the weight of past traumas, I'm here to support you on your journey.
I offer counselling sessions for young people, using creative and gentle approaches to address issues like anxiety, depression, school refusal, and more. Together, we'll enhance their self-confidence, emotional well-being, and communication skills, enabling them to live a happier life.
Children's therapy at Growing Wings is designed to provide a nurturing and creative space where children, aged 4+, can explore and address their unique challenges. From anxiety and school-related issues to sleep difficulties and changing life events, we work together to improve their self-confidence and emotional well-being.
If you are looking for trauma therapy, my trauma training has provided me with the status of Certified Trauma Professional enabling me to offer specialist trauma therapy to those who may be suffering from PTSD and Complex PTSD. I am trained in a range of evidence based trauma therapies.
My first session
I offer a complimentary 15-20 minute phone call or online consultation where we can introduce ourselves, discuss any questions you may have, and decide if we're the right fit to work together.
In the first session, an assessment will be carried out to determine the correct type of therapy for you. Usually only one session is needed for counselling. For a full trauma assessment, three sessions are typically needed.
For both counselling and trauma therapy, I may ask you to complete some further assessments.
I also offer parental consultations where we can openly discuss your concerns without the child being present. This is optional.
